We all have special qualities and people with developmental disabilities need to be fit and active just like their typically developing peers. At Specialcise our specifically tailored programs are designed to not only meet typical exercise goals such as increasing fitness and strength, building muscle and confidence; but we have also incorporated important brain development exercises like crossing the midline along with necessary fine motor, gross motor and core development exercises.

I am the mother of an amazing young man, Cooper. Cooper has an extremely rare chromosome abnormality that affects (amongst many things) his fine and gross motor skills, muscle tone and intellectual delay. It is so hard to find programs that fit our kids and they are usually “So not cool” so they don’t engage. So I was so excited to come across the Specialcise program at a gym near me. The sessions combine the cognitive aspect that makes my son think and use his brain as well as building muscle tone and strength without him knowing it. Cooper absolutely adores his sessions at the gym as his Trainer, Kane has that total “Cool” factor and he treats the kids with respect and expects the best from them. I have found a definite improvement in Cooper’s strength and this shows through in his OT sessions where he can hold positions a lot easier and longer than before. I cannot recommend this program enough if you are looking for something to help your child intellectually and physically and absolutely guarantee once you sign up you will be part of an amazing Specialcise family.
My daughter looks forward to her weekly gym program with her friends and personal trainer. She gets a lot out of it. I can see how much she enjoys the sessions because they’re entertaining, stimulate her and improve her hand eye coordination and core strength. SHE likes it because she is having fun and knows she is getting stronger. She feels good afterwards and is always proud of her achievements and likes to show off her muscles. I recommend this program to any parent, whether their child has special needs or not.
